Wave Trigger Technology uses parallel processing of your character and your sound and seamlessly layers it with high definition samples to infinitely color the sound produced. WTT began with KORG’s Wave Drum and KORG’s engineers developed a new algorithm designed to achieve maximum performance response. Each strike of the drum is captured by two separate sound sources. The DSP (Digital Signal Processing) audio sensor captures the initial strike and head response simultaneously as the second sensor triggers the PCM (Pulse Code modulation) sound file. The algorithm expertly blends the two sound sources together, and for the first time ever in an electronic drum set captures every nuance of the stick strike. Regardless of where you strike the head or the dynamic level, the superior sensitivity of the DSP captures it accurately. This level of sensitivity is unmatched in electronic drums. The e/MERGE MDL1 sound module features a newly designed operating system developed by KORG that features dual high-performance processors that easily handle the Wave Trigger Technology of blending larger sound files from separate sources. The high-powered CPU provides accurate trigger response for natural playability. The 16 GB large capacity memory stores 35 preconfigured drum sets with space for 50 additional user-built kits. The sound library consists of Pearl drum sets newly recorded at a world-class Nashville studio and blended with a deep selection of electronics, modern digital and beat machines from the extensive KORG sound vault. Orchestral, concert and world percussion instruments complete the sound library. The innovation of the e/MERGE Module provides a simplicity of design and function that allows you to simply play more by putting the user-friendly controls at your fingertips. The dial and large dedicated genre buttons allow you to quickly navigate through the kit banks. A major feature of the e/MERGE Module is the Ambience Fader that gives you real time control of the actual recorded room ambience. 8 Direct Outputs, 2 Master Outputs, and Stereo Aux In give you full routing capabilities for any performance situation. Three additional inputs allow for the expansion of your e/MERGE kit. The PUREtouch Pad System walks the finest line between the natural feel of an acoustic drum and the response of an electric pad. e/MERGE features real size pads (14″ snare, 10″, 12″ & 14″ toms and 18″ x 12″ bass drum) along with an 18″ three zone Ride, 15″ two zone Crash and 14″ Hi-hats. Module MDL1

The acoustic library for the MDL1 was recorded in one of the world’s most respected recording studios in Nashville, Tennessee. Both current and vintage instruments in a full variety of sizes were chosen and sampled. You will recognize some familiar tones in the style of several iconic Pearl artists, some specific genres, decades, and historic songs and styles from the past to the present. Customize sets and save your presets to the library, choose from over 35 different onboard effects, record your performances for hours on end, or just lay into it and play!

With eight assignable outs, two master outs, headphone outs and an auxiliary in, the MDL1 easily handles all your live performance and recording needs. But one of the most exciting features of the e/MERGE module is the Ambience Slider. Taken from a mix of the room and overhead mics during the recording process, the Ambience Slider allows you to instantly add color, natural room reverb and live vibe.

The patent pending PUREtouch Electronic Pads were constructed by Pearl and KORG engineers with six layers of material that work together to create the most natural feel of any electronic pad available. Combined with the WAVE TRIGGER TECHNOLOGY, for the first time ever, your choice of stick will impact the sound of your electronic kit. Every area of the snare drum head responds like an acoustic drum from the center to the edge. You can also affect the feel by changing the head tension. If your preference is for a tighter feel, simply tighten the head. Two separate rim triggers are perfectly positioned for cross stick and rim shots, and the snare drum’s 14” diameter makes this feel as natural as any acoustic drum.

Each e/MERGE kit includes a PUREtouch Electronic Cymbal pack consisting of an 18” three zone Ride (bell, bow and edge), 15” two zone Crash (bow and edge), and 14” two zone Hi-hats (bow and edge). PUREtouch Crash and Ride Cymbals feature a multi-layer construction encapsulated in rubber with a playing action similar to that of acoustic cymbals, but with a slightly softer feel for controlled sound volume. PUREtouch cymbals have a patent pending feature, based upon frequency, that blends the edge and bow sounds consistent with where you strike the cymbal. Most electronic cymbals include a choke feature that cuts off the sound when you grab the switch located under the cymbal, but the patent pending natural choke function of PUREtouch Cymbals eliminates the sound and instantaneously triggers the natural sympatric harmonic ring inherent to choking real acoustic cymbals. Truly the most natural sounding electronic cymbals ever.
