Dynamic microphone classic

The M 88 has been manufactured by hand at the beyerdynamic company location in Heilbronn for decades. Due to its outstanding technical properties, it is considered a classic microphone. Preferably used on a kick drum or as a vocal microphone, the wide frequency response, the pronounced bass reproduction, the high sensitivity and the excellent directivity impress with physically almost perfect values.

Ideal for singing

The M 88 has been extremely popular in the vocal sector for several decades, be it as a studio vocal microphone or on the live stage. This popularity is due to its excellent technical properties, detailed bass reproduction and gentle treble boost. Thanks to the high-quality basic sound, the signal can be optimally processed further.

A hidden talent

Since the M 88 was originally developed as a microphone for voice recording, it can also be used very well as a podcast microphone.

Hypercardioid near perfection

From a technical perspective, the M 88’s hypercardioid is close to perfection. This means that sound arriving from the front is picked up preferentially. At the same time, signals arriving from the side and sometimes from behind are reduced.

The M 88, like all microphones in the M series, is manufactured in Germany at the beyerdynamic company location in Heilbronn – by hand. Sound-relevant components such as the membrane, the dynamic transducer and the microphone basket are not purchased, but are manufactured in-house.
